Martee has been with Avantgarde since April of 2010. She graduated from Ottawa Area Vocational School in 1982 and enjoys attending continues education and training courses. While Martee is a licensed cosmetologist, she is also a licensed esthetician and specializes in skin evaluations, customized facials, microdermabrasion, eyelash tinting, treatment of adult and adolescent acne, eye treatments and waxing. Her passion is improving skin elasticity and texture while reducing fine lines and wrinkles through a wide range of skin restoration techniques.

Katie has been with Avantgarde since March of 2010. She graduated from Douglas J Aveda Institute as a licensed cosmetologist in 2009.  Katie has received specialized training with Kemon Hair Color from Italy. In addition to the latest hair trends, Katie also specializes in natural and french manicures, pedicures, hair extensions, special occasion updo’s and makeup.

Carmen has been a member of the Avantgarde team since March of 2010. She attended Chic University and graduated as a licensed cosmetologist in January of 2008. Carmen specializes in rejuvenating and reconstructing hair through natural techniques to utilize its natural beauty.

I spent 8 weeks in serious pain from sciatica. I was on prescription pain medications and going to physical therapy. I was desperate to avoid any form of surgical intervention, and I needed relief! I have had massage treatments all over the United States but Sara’s treatment is totally unique. When I arrived for my first [massage] I could barely get on the table. She asked specific questions about my pain. After a one hour treatment, I had the ability to move without pain. She gave me additional stretches to do at home. That night, I slept incredibly well, without my pain medication. Although the salon has continued to grow, it has not been immune to the effects of our economy. Yet it continues to keep its mission of ‘Making a Difference’ the driving force. “You never know the circumstances of someone’s life when they walk through the door. We’re here to make a difference because we know that everyone needs to be pampered,” says Moore.

Following the sudden death of her husband in 2006 Bonnie Moore, of Ada, needed to find a passion and purpose and wanted to make a difference in peoples lives. As a client of the salon, with no industry experience, Moore purchased both salons in October of 2007. After several renovation projects, acquisition of new and exclusive product lines and the addition of a small boutique, Avantgarde has establish itself as one of the finest salon and day spas in West Michigan. Most notably, Avantgarde was named Top Salon in Grand Rapids by the Grand Rapids Press in February of 2009.
